This wonderful painting tells the story of a miracle . Saint Francis participated in the Fifth Crusade in the East, and was a guest of the great Ayyubid sultan, al-Malik al-Kamil . The sultan paid homage to the friar, and was extraordinarily struck by his goodness , the firmness of his faith, and his ability to connect all the elements into one great thought based on Christ. The Sultan offers him very rich gifts, as evidence of his benevolence, but Francesco politely refuses . And rather he wants to demonstrate that when we find ourselves in the true Christian faith, nothing can harm us. And for this reason it approaches a fire, passes through it and remains intact . No burns, no pain: those present are scared and shocked, but also moved to tears. The episode resonates throughout Europe, and Giotto repeats the fact with one of the most beautiful scenes of the entire complex present in the Upper Basilica of Assisi, in Italy. The background, with solid and geometric architecture, gives rhythm to all the elements represented. The viewer is guided by the perspective to understand the entire scene one concept after another. Giotto thus manages to tell us the story centuries later with the same effectiveness. Once upon a time, there were precious metals that adorned some bas-reliefs around the fresco, of which few fragments remain today. The Italian artisans of ExpoItalyART, on a direct visit to the site of the fresco, are able to faithfully reproduce both the real color tones and the geometry itself . The work is at its best in an important room, or near a piece of stylish furniture, where you want to give a touch of great class and testify to your profound Christian faith.
