Maria is no longer a child. Now she is old enough to become a woman and a wife . For this reason, she is accompanied by her mother Anna to the steps of the Temple , to be officially presented to the wise men. From afar, Father Gioacchino looks at her with a moved and proud eye. Giotto manages to convey first of all the plasticity of the movements and the joy of the scene, with a perfect organization of the spaces. Note the faces of the characters, which seem to have that mixture of emotion, respect for the ceremony and hope for the young girl's future. Here too we find an architecture, which Giotto uses to give spatiality to the image and to help organize the viewer's view.
