"Morning Glories and Tree Frog" by Katsushika Hokusai, part of the celebrated "Large Flowers" series (c.1833-34), is a work that combines botanical delicacy and natural poetry, typical of the ukiyo-e aesthetic. The composition, reproduced on authentic Amalfi paper, captures the balance between the dynamism of the frog and the grace of the flowers, creating a timeless image capable of enriching any environment.

The work depicts morning glory flower tendrils climbing in a sinuous pattern, a symbol of rebirth and freshness in Japanese culture. Among the leaves, a small tree frog appears, caught in a precarious balance on the plant support, which introduces a note of vitality and subtle humor. The composition, only seemingly simple, demonstrates the full maturity of Hokusai's language in the kachō-ga (flowers and birds) genre, with a refined use of color and void typical of Edo period prints.

Feel the history under your fingertips

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.

It is a paper composed exclusively of cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic frayed edges that attest to its artisanal production.

It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
