Discover the extraordinary Yoro Waterfall, Mino Province by Katsushika Hokusai, one of the most fascinating representations of nature in the celebrated series of Japanese waterfalls. This reproduction, made on authentic Amalfi paper, captures the fluid movement of water and the harmony between man and landscape, conveying a sense of calm and wonder typical of ukiyo-e art.

The work belongs to the series Shokoku taki meguri ("A Journey to the Waterfalls of All Provinces"), in which Hokusai celebrates Japan's water landscapes, combining naturalistic observation with the narrative sensitivity typical of ukiyo-e. The Yoro Waterfall, located in modern-day Gifu Prefecture, was already famous for a legend that its water tasted like sake and had miraculous virtues, a reason that enhances its "sacred" charm. In the print, the monumentality of the water dominates the small human figures, emphasizing man's relationship of wonder and respect for nature.

Feel the history under your fingertips

Our reproductions are extremely faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.

It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic frayed edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
