Claude Monet's painting "The Walk on the Cliffs at Pourville", painted in 1882, is a significant example of his approach to impressionism and plein air painting. This work captures a moment of daily life and the changing weather conditions, central themes in the artist's production.

Monet spent several months in Pourville, Normandy, during the spring and summer of 1882, where he produced a series of paintings of the cliffs, the beach, and the sea. This period was particularly prolific, allowing him to explore the variations of light and color in depth. "A Walk on the Cliffs" shows two female figures, presumably his companion Alice Hoschedé's daughters, Suzanne and Marthe, walking along the cliff. Their figures are drawn with rapid, visible brushstrokes, typical of Impressionism, suggesting movement and interaction with the windswept environment.

Monet's attention is mainly focused on the rendering of the atmosphere and the effects of light on the scene. The sky, the waves and the vegetation are constructed through a juxtaposition of pure colors that, observed from a certain distance, merge in the eye of the viewer to create the impression of natural light and movement. The wind, almost tangible, manifests itself in the clothes of the figures and in the moving grass.
