An original and luminous 18th-century depiction of the island of San Giorgio, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground are the island and the church of San Giorgio, with a few boats on the Grand Canal. The light is that of the setting sun; the sky is clear, with a few pinkish-white clouds, but the day is fine. The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated.
