The artwork

The Triumph of Virtue (or Minerva Expelling the Vices from the Garden of Virtue) is a tempera on canvas by Andrea Mantegna, completed in 1502 and now held in the Louvre in Paris.

The canvas was the second in the series of paintings decorating the studiolo of Isabella d'Este in the Castello di San Giorgio in Mantua. In 1502 the order to purchase the varnish to complete the work is documented.
