An original and rare 18th-century depiction of the stonemason's yard in Venice, by Giovanni Antonio Canal. In the foreground is the yard, with scenes of everyday life and rough-hewn stones, in front of a dilapidated building. Further back are the bell tower and a church. A morning sun lights up the yard, but there are a few threatening clouds in the sky. The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1725.
