An original and very fine image depicting the Penitent Magdalene, painted by Titian.
The Penitent Magdalene is an oil painting on panel by Titian, datable to 1565 and kept in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. Unlike the 1531 version, the Magdalene no longer appears naked; a jar has been introduced, together with an open book and a skull as a memento mori.
