An original, luminous and rare 18th-century view of the Henry VII Chapel in Westminster Abbey, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The lofty arches of the chapel stand out, soaring high and making man seem small. In the chapel two noblemen are talking, and further back other visitors are admiring the church. Note on the right the wooden stalls where the monks sit when a religious service is taking place. The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1750.
