A marvellous 18th-century depiction of the Grand Canal looking south-east, by Giovanni Antonio Canal. The day is serene, with a few clouds, the canal is calm and the gondoliers are ferrying tourists. The beautiful Venetian palaces are reflected in the green-blue water of the canal. There are many other variants of this painting. The picture, an oil on canvas, is dated around 1730.
