The map depicts the great Russia looming over Europe. Each European state is represented within its physical borders, with a person rising from it. In the lower-left corner of the map are the references. In the upper-right corner, there is a newspaper article. The map, therefore, shows a divided Europe before the outbreak of the First World War, serving as an omen of what was to come.
