Edition of the topography of ancient Rome and of ancient architecture, described and demonstrated with plans and views of monuments, by Luigi Canina, the Italian architect and archaeologist, who sought to keep it continually updated with works reflecting both the latest archaeological discoveries of the 19th century and the theories on the restoration and depiction of ancient monuments.

The views are decorated with ornaments and figures. Luigi Canina, architect and archaeologist, was born in Casale Monferrato on 23 October 1795 and died in Florence on 17 October 1856. He studied in Turin under Ferdinando Bonsignore.
