A detailed painting of a centuries-old Sophora tree by Jakob Philipp Hackert. Ideal for a botanist. In the foreground is the great tree, with its lush, luxuriant growth. Hackert has painted the branches and leaves with careful attention to detail. The tree dominates the whole scene. At the foot of the picture there are some notes and an inscription.
The painting is on display at the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard Art Museums, United States.
