Original and rare 18th-century view of San Giacomo di Rialto, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground is the church of San Giacomo, with its colonnade and central sundial (detail). In front of the churchyard there is a small square with scenes of daily life. On the right side of the painting there is a large palace in the shadow of a setting sun. The sky is clear, with no clouds on the horizon.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1725.
