A romantic painting by Jakob Philipp Hackert depicting the royal princes during the harvest at Carditello. The two little princes are dancing, while a nurse holds the baby in her arms. We are on the estate, bounded by walls and sown with wheat. The sheaves can be seen gathered into stacks, with the peasants in the background reaping the wheat. The mood is joyful and festive, the harvest is good and the sky is clear. The dominant colour of the painting is the ochre yellow of the wheat.
The painting is on display at the National Museum of San Martino & Certosa, Naples.
