This highly detailed and attractive view of the Colosseum in Rome, published by Francois Halma in the early 18th century, shows the Colosseum as seen from the west with Rome in the background. Around the building, people can be observed engaging in commercial, agricultural, and other daily activities.
Below the main view, there are two other views of Rome: one in the lower right depicts the Basilica in the Vatican, while the one in the lower left shows a city church. The upper image is based on a drawing by Lievin Cruyl, made during his stay in Rome between 1664 and 1676, while the lower images are derived from the works of Francois Halma. The composition offers a detailed and historically significant representation of some of Rome's most important monuments.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
