A luminous and original view of Piazza della Signoria in Florence, by Bernardo Bellotto. Palazzo Vecchio, seen from afar, dominates the scene with its tall bell tower. Elegant palaces overlook the square, busy with people looking for a bargain. The sky is clear with a few scattered clouds. The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1742. There are three other variants of this work.
The painting is on display at the Museum Der Schönen Künste, Budapest.
