The painting "The Park at Monceau" by Claude Monet was created in several versions between 1876 and 1878.

The Parc Monceau, located in Paris, was an elegant and fashionable place for walking, a public park that had undergone major urban transformations desired by Baron Haussmann. These renovation works had incorporated the park into the new urban fabric of the city. Monet, painting this subject, concentrated on scenes of everyday life and landscapes, themes favored by the Impressionists who distanced themselves from the great historical or mythological narratives.

In his depictions of the park, Monet used quick, visible brushstrokes, applying paint directly to the canvas with little mixing. This approach allowed him to capture the effects of natural light at different times of day and in changing weather conditions. Shadows were not rendered in black, but often in shades of blue or other colors, reflecting the perception that shadows are not the absence of color, but rather a reflection of the surrounding light.

Human figures, if present, were often treated less clearly, almost as part of the landscape itself, contributing to an overall atmosphere of movement and spontaneity.
