Original and luminous eighteenth-century representation of the Old Horse Guards and the Banqueting Hall in London, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there is the large English garden, populated by nobles and ladies with scenes of daily life. Further in the background, we can see the two buildings of the Old Horse Guards and the Banqueting Hall, in Anglo-Saxon architectural style. To the sides of the garden, Canaletto depicts tree-lined avenues. The sky is clear, but there are a few pink clouds on the horizon at sunset.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1749. There is another version of this work, part of a private collection.
