This work celebrates the conclave that followed the death of Pope Innocent XII, during which Giovanni Francesco Albani was elected Pope Clement XI on November 23, 1700.

The engraving depicts a partial floor plan of Vatican City with an aerial view, highlighting the functions and ceremonies of the conclave. At its center, the image shows numerous cardinal electors and illustrates the stages of death, deliberation, and election. The work also includes a list of the participating cardinals.
