On the sides, there are drawings of Africans in their tribal costumes. The map includes a grid of meridians and parallels. Rivers and major cities are indicated, with detailed points for sailing ship landings.
Willem Janszoon Blaeu, Latinized as Guilielmus Jansonius Blavius, was a Dutch cartographer and publisher.
