Historical map of Russia from the mid-17th century created by Nicolaes Visscher.

The map shows the extent of Russia in the mid-18th century, with indications of cities, rivers, and the borders of the states of that time. In particular, it also includes the division into parallels and meridians.

On the right side of the Map, allegories are depicted, with some characters holding an inscription. Other notes are present at the top center.

Nicolaes or Nicolas or Claes Claesz. Visscher (Amsterdam, January 25, 1618 – Amsterdam, December 9, 1709) was a Dutch draughtsman, engraver, publisher, illustrator, and printer of the Golden Age.

Son of Claes Jansz Visscher and father of Nicolaes, he was active in his native city primarily as a publisher of atlases and maps from 1633 until 1679.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.

It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
