Historical map of the World from the mid-17th century created by unknown artists. It is a hand-colored engraving.

The map depicts the world on a rectangular chart, divided into meridians and parallels, with the outlines of the continents of the time. It is a political map, showing the states of the era and the largest cities. Around the perimeter of the map are allegories taken from the classical world and mythology.

Of note are the planet's north and south poles in the lower part of the map. While some inscriptions are collected within a coat of arms.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on fine Amalfi paper.

This paper is made exclusively from cotton fibers, is thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic frayed edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still produced today using ancient medieval techniques in the workshops of Amalfi.
