Historic world map indicating heights and depths.
The map indicates three different degrees of depth for seas and oceans with as many different shades of blue.
For mountains, these are also represented with different shades of brown depending on their height. The Himalayas are highlighted, colored almost black. While flat areas are represented with a single shade of green.
In the lower right corner, there is a legend indicating the heights corresponding to the various colors.
This type of map was very common in schools at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
