This splendid map of Lazio, first published in 1693 by Giacomo Giovanni Rossi and drawn by Giacomo Filippo Ameti, depicts the territory between Rome and Circeo with extraordinary detail. The decorative cartouche in the upper left, with allegories of the Tiber and the city of Rome, embellishes the work. The map was created under the supervision of mathematician Francesco Eschinardi, based on Innocenzo Mattei's 1666 work, updated in the coastal areas, and dedicated to Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni.

Giovanni Rossi, heir to the famous printing house founded by his father Giuseppe de Rossi, made significant contributions to Baroque cartography, collaborating with important geographers such as Giacomo Cantelli da Vignola. His printing house, which became one of the most prestigious in Rome, also published works based on the creations of Nicolas Sanson. Rossi's legacy continues today through the Calcografia Nazionale, which preserves one of the most important collections of prints and matrices worldwide.

Feel history at your fingertips

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.

It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic frayed edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.

It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
