An original and exquisite photograph depicting the Madonna and Child, painted by Andrea Verrocchio.
The painting would originally have been displayed in a home, where images of the Madonna and Child were favoured for private devotion, partly because they provided ideal models for women and children.
Although the left side of the Madonna's face is badly damaged, some details, such as the Child's head, convey the extraordinary original quality of the painting.
