A fine hand-colored example of Hartmann Schedel's incunabula view of Rome, taken from Schedel's Liber Chronicum, perhaps the most influential secular illustrated book of the 15th century and one of the benchmark printed works of the 15th century.
Schedel's view of Rome is one of the earliest obtainable views of the Eternal City, and realistically, the only large-format 15th-century illustration of Rome accessible to collectors. Although the illustration is somewhat inaccurate, Castel Sant'Angelo, the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Belvedere, and Hadrian's Mausoleum are clearly depicted among other features.

Our reproductions are faithful to the original and printed on precious Amalfi paper.
It is a paper made exclusively from cotton fibers, thick and naturally porous, yet soft to the touch, with characteristic deckled edges that attest to its artisanal craftsmanship.
It is still made today according to ancient medieval techniques, in the workshops of Amalfi.
