Exterior View of the Apse, St Peter's - Lievin Cruyl

The artwork

A true exterior view of St Peter's, from the 18th century, with a detail of the apse, made by Lievin Cruyl with a diagonal perspective and a round format. The colonnade has not yet been built and the square is open. The work highlights the columns of the Basilica and the marvellous dome by Bernini. On either side of the building are Roman palaces.
