This is a truly exquisite and sought-after historical view of the port, painted in 1702 by Gaspare Vanvitelli. The depiction of the shadows is particularly masterful. The boats moored in the harbor and those arriving are prominently featured, painted in dark colors that contrast with the bright blue sky dotted with clouds. The castle is depicted in the background above.
The painting is housed in the National Museum of San Martino and the Certosa di San Martino in Naples.
