Original and rare 18th-century capriccio of a round-plan palace (left) with a small square in front, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground of the bridge is the church, not very large, with five bays, but meticulously detailed. Highlighted on the observer's side there is a small pier with anchored boats and sailors. The sky is clear, tinged with pale blue and white.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1740 approx. Two other variations of this work by Canaletto exist.
