An original and luminous 18th-century view of the Campo di Rialto, near the fish market, by Giovanni Antonio Canal. In the foreground is the campo with its stalls and a few passers-by in search of a bargain. On the left is a large palazzo and the Calle Rialto leading to the bridge, while on the right is another arcaded palazzo. The bell tower and a clear sky dominate the background. The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1760. Canal painted a variant of this work.
