The artwork
Paul Klee's "Angelus Novus," created in 1920, marks a pivotal moment in the artist's career. That year, he exhibited in Munich and entered the Bauhaus in Weimar. Created using the oil transfer method, a technique invented by Klee, it depicts a stylized angel against a swirling brown background, suspended between anguish and wonder.
Although it may seem like a simple angelic portrait, the work symbolizes something deeper: the sign of a renewal or spiritual revolution. After several changes of ownership, "Angelus Novus" is now held at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, where it continues to inspire fascination and reflection.
