An original and rare engraving depicting Somerset Gardens near Westminster Bridge, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground on the right is a detail of the gardens, with broad avenues and a few people strolling along them. The left side shows the Thames, plied by boats of various sizes, with Westminster Bridge in the background. The sky is cloudy, with dark clouds on the horizon, especially on the right-hand side of the work. The engraving is dated 1750.
The artwork is on display at the Yale Center for British Art, Paul Mellon Collection, USA.
