The artwork

An original and rare etching depicting a cart crossing a bridge, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground is the single-arched bridge linking the two banks of the river. On it Canaletto has depicted an ox-drawn cart that has just passed the corner house (on the left at the start of the bridge) and is heading for the other bank. The sky is clear with a few clouds on the horizon. The etching is undated; other variants of this work exist.
