The artwork
Claude Monet's Weeping Willow is a series of works created by the artist between 1918 and 1920.
These paintings were created in a particular period of Monet's life, marked by the end of the First World War, an event that had deeply affected him. The willows, in this context, take on a significant symbolic value, reflecting a sense of melancholy and, at the same time, of resilience.
Monet painted these paintings while continuing to explore the possibilities of his property in Giverny, Normandy, where he created his famous water lily pond. Although water lilies are often associated with his work during this period, the weeping willows represent another facet of his observation of nature and light.
