An interesting and luminous mid-18th-century view of Villa Costaguti by Jakob Philipp Hackert. Prominent is the villa, which dominates the whole landscape. In the foreground, in the countryside outside the walls, some animals are grazing. Between the villa and the walls is a tree-lined garden. In the distance, mountains painted fading into the sky can just be made out. It is a portrait of rural Rome.
