A romantic, eighteenth-century historical view of Villa Aldobrandini, painted by Gaspare Vanvitelli. Seen from afar, the villa is perched on a hill. Located in the Tuscolano district of Rome, the approach is along a tree-lined avenue flanked by tall larches on the right side of the painting. The entrance, with some wayfarers, is located in the middle of the painting. Before the entrance is a large square with people going about their business, while to the left are buildings. Note the changing hues of the sky, seen at sunset, with shades of intense blue fading to white.
