In the background are the buildings of Dresden, while on the right side, a balustrade overlooking the moat can be seen.
The sky features some clouds, but is lighter and more nuanced in front of the viewer. The painting is undated. It is one of 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during a stay there.
The painting is exhibited at the Yale University Art Gallery.
