In the foreground there is the busy pier and a few anchored boats. In the Grand Canal, a few boats are maneuvering. Further in the background there is the Church of Santa Maria della Salute, illuminated by a pale morning sun. The sky is clear, but with a few clouds on the horizon. The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated. There are other variations of this work created by Canaletto.
The work is exhibited at the Musee de Grenoble in France.
