A large field is highlighted, with a horse and other Roman citizens intent on their daily activities. The painting has two primary colors: azure blue and yellow-brown. The peacock perched on the terrace among other birds is a beautiful detail. The painting is one of the few by van Wittel with a certain date, 1665.
This painting is also part of the extensive production Vanvitelli created during his stays in Rome. The painting is exhibited in the Pitti Palace, Florence.
