A fine and refined view of Ponte Sisto in Rome by Gaspare Vanvitelli, depicted reflected in the Tiber. The picture gives off a particular light, with the setting sun and boats gliding along the bank. In the background, the dome of St Peter's and the Roman palaces can be glimpsed. On the right of the picture, the buildings appear closer to the observer's eye than those on the opposite side, which seem slightly further away.
Note the change in the tone of the sky, which is pale in the distance while, closer by, it becomes dark and an intense blue.
This painting, too, is part of the prolific output that Vanvitelli created during his stays in Rome.
The work is held in the Palazzo dei Conservatori of the Capitoline Museums in Rome.
