A magnificent historical view of Piazza Navona, painted by Gaspare Vanvitelli, another unforgettable corner of Rome. The obelisk is central, while a fountain is painted at the bottom left. Along the sides are some shops. The square is busy with wayfarers, pilgrims and ordinary inhabitants. The palazzi on the left are lit by the sun in light brown and yellow ochre, while above is a beautiful deep blue sky, with a few grey clouds on the horizon over the scene. This picture too is part of the prolific output Vanvitelli produced during his stays in Rome.
