The artwork

A rare and admirable view of the village of Licenzo perched on the mountain, made by Jakob Philipp Hackert. In the foreground are peasants with oxen grazing. In the background are mountains and a cloudy sky with the morning sun. Licenzo is placed halfway up the painting, on a hill, softened by distance. Few details can be seen, while the vegetation is well depicted.
