A romantic and original painting depicting the Neumarkt in Dresden, by Bernardo Bellotto. Prominent is the very large square, with a carriage drawn by splendid white Lipizzaners and many people. On the left, seen in perspective, is a large palace, while the Neumarkt can be admired in the centre of the square. The sky is clear, with few clouds. At the far end of the picture the church dominates the scene.
The painting is dated 1747. It is one of the 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during one of his stays.
