The port and Castel dell’Ovo stand out, together with the busy commercial activity of boats and sailing ships. This painting shows Vesuvius in the background on the right, while the sky is cloudy but the sun (not shown in the picture, as it is assumed to be where the observer stands) lights up the port. The dominant colour of the picture is blue, present in large areas of the sky and in the light blue-green water of the Gulf of Naples. The painting is part of Palatine Gallery & Royal Apartments of Palazzo Pitti, Florence.
