A clear, bright 18th-century view of Dresden with the Augustus Bridge, made by Bernardo Bellotto. Prominent is the great River Elbe, which divides the city, linked by the historic Augustus Bridge mirrored in the river. On the left the church can be admired, while in the foreground, on the opposite bank, are boats and passers-by, with a prominent couple of nobles dressed in distinguished light-coloured clothes and turbans.
Bellotto paints the sky in light shades, with a few clouds. The picture is undated. It is one of the 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during one of his stays.
