The great Elbe River, which divides the city, is prominently featured, connected by the historic Roman Augustus Bridge, reflected in the river. On the left side, the church can be seen, while in the foreground, on the opposite bank, there are boats and passer-bys, including a noble couple dressed in distinctive light-colored robes and turbans.
The sky is painted by Bellotto with light shades and a few clouds. The painting is undated. It is one of 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during a stay there.
