A clear, bright view of Dresden with a detail of the Hofkirche under construction, prominent on the right-hand side, made by Bernardo Bellotto. In the foreground is the great River Elbe, which divides the city, linked by the historic bridge. On the left bank of the river a rural landscape with scenes of everyday life dominates. Bellotto paints the sky in light shades, with a few clouds.
The picture is dated 1748. It is one of the 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during a stay there, and it is on display at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, USA.
