On the left side, you can admire the Frauenkirche, while on the right side of the riverbank, the entire city unfolds, with a few well-dressed noble citizens in colorful robes alongside peasants. The sky, painted by Bellotto with shades of azure blue, features a few clouds.
The painting is dated 1747. It is one of 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during a stay there. Other variations of this work exist, exhibited at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, USA.
