A clear and vivid view of Dresden with the Augustus Bridge from 1750, painted by Bernardo Bellotto. The great Elbe River stands out, dividing the city, connected by the historic Roman Augustus Bridge, reflected in the river. On the left side, the church can be admired, while in the foreground, on the opposite bank, there are boats and people, particularly a noble couple dressed in distinctive light-colored robes and turbans. The central theme of the painting is the Augustus Bridge, with its beautiful and powerful Roman arches, permanently connecting the two banks of the Elbe. The sky, painted by Bellotto with light shades and a few clouds, is dated 1747. It's one of 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during a stay there. Four other variations of this work exist.
